Codex Sinaiticus
Codex Vaticanus
Codex Alexandrinus

These extraordinary manuscripts provide valuable insight into the transmission of Scripture, the Greek biblical tradition, and the history of the Christian canon.

Designed like an ancient manuscript exhibition spread across a scholar's desk, this artwork transforms your workspace into a miniature biblical manuscript museum.

What Did the Ancient Biblical Codices Contain?

Explore the fascinating history of early Christian Scripture through manuscript evidence, historical context, and the books preserved within these remarkable codices.

The design examines:

Codex Sinaiticus — A fourth-century Greek biblical manuscript preserving important evidence of early Christian Scripture, including the Epistle of Barnabas and portions of the Shepherd of Hermas.
Codex Vaticanus — A fourth-century Greek biblical manuscript and one of the most significant witnesses to the text of the Greek Bible.
Codex Alexandrinus — A fifth-century Greek biblical manuscript containing important biblical texts along with 1 Clement and 2 Clement.
The Septuagint Tradition — The Greek translation tradition of the Hebrew Scriptures and its importance in early Christianity.
Early Christian Writings — Explore the historical presence of writings such as the Epistle of Barnabas, Shepherd of Hermas, 1 Clement, and 2 Clement.

The artwork also invites an important question in biblical canon history:

Does the presence of a writing inside an ancient biblical manuscript necessarily tell us how every Christian community regarded it?
